In Mrs Tilschers Class Essays
In Mrs Tilschers Class Essays In Mrs Tilschers Class Essay In Mrs Tilschers Class Essay Essay Topic: Poetry A skittle o f milk, this shows that they are having fun. They might be playing a game. The classroom glowed like a sweet shop, sugar paper and coloured shapes were all the things of happiness. It shows the teacher loved children, and children loved her. Its magical and looks as if there is a party because of all the wonderful decorations. The poet describes these changes very well, he tries to emphasis and make the readers experience all of the things she went through. There are small statements, which the poet tries to describe very well. A skittle of milk The word skittle might try to tell readers that the children are having fun by playing a game. Also the word milk, which might mean spread. The poet tries to persuade readers that children are having fun; by this he has said this (A skittle of milk). The laugh of a bell The word laugh means happiness, this is linked with the bell because both of them communicate with happiness. The bell ringing is a human sound. Laugh is positive and it associates with having fun. The poet does describe them well. The classroom was filled with decoration and then this is when the fun starts to end. A xylophones nonsense, someone is having fun it is not a tune. The inky tadpoles change into exclamation marks, this links them to be growing up. The children are more rood, A rough boy told you how you were born She imagines her mum with her legs wide open and thinks, is that were she comes from? This change is described well by the poet, the wording is just right. Very well done to the poet. Towards the end of the school the weather gets worse. That feverish July, the air tasted of electricity The word feverish reminds you of cold and fast winds in that month. The poet describes this well as well as, the air tasted of electricity. This describes that the primary school days are nearly over, and the weather also links with this, ideas are changing. The poet tries to link the weather with the end of the school year, and she does this extremely well. Towards the end of the school year as reports were handed out, you ran through the gates, ready to go to your next school. The sky split open into a thunderstorm The thunderstorm represents the end of the school year, which is finally over. This obviously is after all the fun and laughter in the beginning scenes. When children are filled with happiness, the entire classroom is filled with wonderful decorations. You loved Mrs Tilscher, and she also loved you. Then the thunderstorm at the end occurred because of the end of the school year, as children grew up from tadpoles to exclamation marks (adults). Children started to be more rood. Also towards the end, the weather changes, as it is fiercer towards the end of the school year. Valentine * An onion is unusual about the poets choice of a valentine gift. Its not the usual red rose or satin heart. Not a red rose or a satin heart It has a shape, which is equivalent to a sphere. It also has a brown substance, which is wrapped around it. The onion is very unusual but has lots of meanings as well as feelings for the person that will receive it. You look forward to having it because, It promises light * This particular gift was chosen because it means a lot for the person who receives it. It promises light. Brightness and positive vinculum together, thats why this gift has been chosen. Like the undressing of love This means that you can take your clothes off and start love, this is similar when the to the onion, when it has its brown paper taken of it. It contains lots of different layers. * There are several different affects that the person will receive. It will blind you with tears When you look at an onion tears start to appear in your eyes, it leads to tears just like a rose does. There will be a disowned image in the mirror, your reflection will be smudgy and will not be seen properly because of the tears that appeared on your face. Where caused by an onion that meant a lot to you. It will make your reflection a wobbling photo of grief The fierce kiss stays on your lips, which means love will last long and will carry on forever. Its fierce kiss will stay on your lips The taste of an onion lasts long. Stealing I learn that the thief is alone and has no friends; this leads to him stealing and making himself occupied. He has nothing to do; his life is dull and shadowed. What I deduce about the thief is that he has no human friends, and no relationships. I also deduce that the snow mans mind is cool as a slice of ice. He has a cold mind. With a mind as cold with a slice of ice I learn that he says, Better off dead then giving in, not taking what you want What he means by this is that you might as well be dead if you cannot take what you want. If you want something you should take it, and this is his advice for himself and also his point of view. * The thief takes the snowman because he has no human friends because if this he treats the snowman as a friend. He took him because he had a mind, which was cold, this is why he wanted him. He looked magnificent tall white mute beneath the winter moon He takes him one by one and starts with head. He said, he weighed a ton. There is some sort of vinculum between the thief and the snowman. He also takes him so children would cry in the morning. Knowing that the snowman has gone he likes to hurt children. Part of the thrill was knowing that children would cry in the morning. Lifes tough * The poet presents the ideas convincingly step by step; he explains what the thief does and what he thinks of the snowman. Sometimes I steel things I dont need The poet first writes down what he does need but doesnt say that, then he comes across what he doesnt need, all of which is only for entertainment. The poet makes the thief answer as if someone is asking a question. I took some time The poet also writes what the thief thinks of himself. Mostly Im so bored I could eat myself This shows that he has nothing to do; the poet at the end convinces readers that the thief is telling the questioner what he has said. You dont understand a word Im saying do you? This suggests that only the thief knows what he is doing and saying. It also suggests that he is completely different from other ordinary humans.

How to Create Classroom Management Routines
How to Create Classroom Management Routines Over the years, educators have developed many different methods for keeping classrooms under control. Currently, one of the most effective is aà program of classroom management proposed by educatorà Harry K. Wongà in his bookà The First Days of School. The focus of Wongs program is on creating orderly classroom routines that help children understand what is expected of them each day. It is a highly effective method, one that works well in both special and general education classrooms. Each day, the children from Room 203 line up outside the classroom and wait to be greeted by their teacher. When they enter the room, they place their homework in the basket marked homework, hang up their coats, and empty their back packs. Soon, the class is busy recording the days assignments in their assignment book, and when completed work on the spelling puzzle they found on their desks. The Importance of Routines Every day, the children in room 203 follow the same routines, routines they have learned. Flexibility comes in instruction, in meeting individual needs or challenges as they arise. The beauty of routines is that they are about what we do, not who we are. A child can be reminded that they forgot to complete a routine, and they will not feel hurt, as they probably would if they were told that they broke a rule. Its well worth the extra time required to create routines, since routines help children understand what is expected of them, where to find the resources they need, and how to behave in the classroom. Routines take time to be taught, but eventually, they become second-nature, and students no longer need to be reminded what to do. The best time to establish routines is at the beginning of the school year.à The First Six Weeks of School, a book by educators Paula Denton and Roxann Kriete, lays out six weeks of activities that teach routines and create meaningful ways for students to interact and create community in the classroom. This approach is now trademarked as The Responsive Classroom. Creating Routines The best routines are those that anticipate common challenges in the classroom and find ways to address them. Before creating a routine, teachers should ask themselves the following questions: How will the students enter the classroom?Where will they place their backpacks? Their homework?Who will take attendance? How will the students record their lunch choices? What does a studentà do when his or her work is completed? How does a studentà record his or her independent reading? How are seats chosen at lunchtime? A resource room teacher will need to ask: How will the studentsà get from their general education classroom to the resource room? How will the students know when it is time to move from their desks to the teachers table? What role will a classroom aide play in the structure of the classroom?Who keeps track of homework and class assignments? Teachers should have an answer for each of these questions. Children from communities without much structure will need a great deal of structure in their day. On the other hand, children from more orderly communities will not necessarily need as much structure. As a teacher, it is always best to have too many routines and too much structure than too little- you can more easily take away than add. Rules While routines are more effective for managing classrooms, there is still a place for rules. Keep them short and simple. One of the rules in every classroom should be Treat yourself and others with respect. Limit your rules to a maximum of 10 so that students can easily remember them.

Effects of Raising the Head of the Bed on Reducing Ventilator-acquired Research Paper
Effects of Raising the Head of the Bed on Reducing Ventilator-acquired Pneumonia - Research Paper Example From this discussion it is clear that some of the problems associated with VAP include; lengthy hospitalization, increased mortality rate ranging from 20%-70% ,depending on the patientsââ¬â¢ medical condition, rise in hospital cost of health care ranging from $5,880 to over $20000 for every incidence. VAP makes up to half of all cases of nosocomial pneumonia incidents with nearly 50% of all antimicrobial agents administered in ICU for treating VAP. Studies show that manipulating the patientââ¬â¢s position by raising head of bed plays a crucial role in preventing VAP. Besides helping the intubated patient to assume certain positions of comfort, elevating the head of bed plays the modest role in lowering risk of ventilator ââ¬âacquired pneumonia. This essay declares that raising head of bed is seen as the cheapest preventive measure for VAP that must be adopted in ICU and any other hospital unit nursing intubated patients that require a long hospital stay to recover. It is le ss costly to employ such type of preventive measure than to wait for the infection to occur then treat it. Critically ill patients have compromised respiratory function; hence VAP will worsen their conditions leading to poor patient outcome. Exploring on the effect of raising the head of the bed on reducing ventilator-acquired pneumonia reveals more than just the art of positioning, but also the scientific rationale behind it. This study seeks to dig up existing information on the importance of patient positioning in preventing respiratory complications during hospitalization. The main purpose is to find out the effect of raising the head of the bed on the cases of VAP. Understanding the effects of raising head of bed as a way of preventing VAP help nurses to achieve patient satisfaction, increased quality outcome and shorten the period of hospitalization.

The differences between reading content area material and literature Essay
The differences between reading content area material and literature - Essay Example The reading of the content areas is mainly divided into three parts. The students draw upon a prior experience or knowledge about the text, during reading they identify with the text and after reading they make interpretations. The strategies of the teacher depend on the activities of the students. (Literacy matters, n.d.). The appropriate strategies of the teachers are as follows: The content materials have a different structure than the other varieties of texts. If the preview of the structure is provided to the students beforehand with headings and sub-headings, pictures and captions then it will benefit the students to understand the nature of the text beforehand. A teacher can discuss these features before beginning starting the lesson. Before starting a new lesson, it will be beneficial for the students if the teachers give an idea of the concepts present in the lesson. The teachers should enquire the students about their knowledge of the subject, which will help in the flow of teaching. Various techniques like the Concept mapping can be used to know the prior knowledge of the students about the subject. The content readings have a high level of vocabulary, which has to be made familiar to the students. The meaning of the new words should be clearly explained to the students. (Abromitis, 28th July, 2009). Reading literature is of great importance because it is through reading of literature that the student learns to view the thoughts and actions of the character compassionately. It develops a sense of emotion in the minds of the reader. Therefore, reading of literature is of utmost importance. The appropriate strategies of teaching literature are as follows: The teachers may teach the whole literature through creating mini lessons about the text. It will be easier for the students to relate to the bigger picture and form a generalized idea about the text. This strategy is helpful for both the

Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Debate
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Debate Eunae Jeong Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act should continue When people heard the news that the first patient with the Ebola virus arrived in Dallas, they were frightened by not only panic about the Ebola virus itself but also by fear that someone in the early stage of infection might not see the doctor because of the enormous cost of health care. In March 2010, President Barack Obama signed into the law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) or obamacare. It is the United Statesââ¬â¢ first health care reform since legalization of Medicare in 1965. Provisions of PPACA include that, in brief, all Americans should buy health insurance from the Health Insurance Marketplace in their state. Another provision states that the federal government should support insurance exchangeââ¬â¢s financing (ââ¬Å"Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA)â⬠). PPACA needs to continue because through the implementation of this Act, people with pre-existing conditions as well as a lot of uninsured people can be aided, and the bud get for Medicare can be reduced at any time. Although there are many opposing views on PPACA, the implementation of PPACA has to be supported because of its clear advantages. For example, imagine that there are a man with type I diabetes, which developed when he was young. To manage type I diabetes, periodical injections of insulin are needed. This means that he needs to visit the doctor to get insulin throughout his life. The cost of insulin depends on insurance coverage. If he tries to apply for insurance in this situation, the insurance company will decline his application due to he has a pre-existing condition. The reason why he is worried about this problem is that he is an American. Fareed Zakaria reports that other countries, such as Switzerland or Taiwan, support their peopleââ¬â¢s universal insurance independently of pre-existing conditions (22). This is possible because the government, not private insurers, provides the coverage (22). Before PPACA came to the front, Americans had to be anxious about the United Stat esââ¬â¢ terrible health care support system. To address this issue, PPACA prohibits that insurance companies deny an application on account of applicantsââ¬â¢ pre-existing conditions (ââ¬Å"Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA)â⬠). Also, another benefit of the program is that the uninsured Americans can be aided by expansion of PPACA. With the implementation of PPACA, they can have opportunities to get medical service when they require it. According to the article written by Leonard Zwelling, for example, 28 percentages of adults, about 6 million people, in Texas are currently uninsured and about 3 million uninsured Texans can get coverage by the implementation of PPACA (13). In addition, because the budget cuts for Medicare are possible if the statesââ¬â¢ finances are endangered PPACS should continue. One of key facts that the Obama administration provide PPACA includes current Medicare and has a plan to expand it with statesââ¬â¢ cooperation. Uninsur ed adults do not have as much political leverage as wealthier insured citizen who can contribute to political campaign. Therefore, the securing of the budget for Medicare can be threatened easily when there is pressure to cut the budget. ââ¬Å"Already, there are calls for curbing the lawââ¬â¢s subsidies that will help the uninsured buy coverage as part of a bipartisan budget deal-an extraordinarily bad idea, given the limited scope of those subsidies.â⬠Clearly, PPACA is required to protect and expand Medicare. / reference: Oberlander, Jonathan, The New England Journal of Medicine. The debating on the implementation of PPACA continues even though PPACA has already begun implementation. Young Americans oppose the implementation of PPACA because they already have health insurance, and they might spend more money if the federal government and states try to expand health insurance. The Institute of Politics of Harvard University questioned ââ¬Å"2089 citizens aged 18 to 29: 56% of those 18 to 24 disapproved of the Presidentââ¬â¢s job performance; 53% of those 25 to 29 disapproved; and 47% maintain they would recall President Barack Obama if that were possibleâ⬠(Emord, Jonathan W. ââ¬Å"YOUNG AMERICANS TO OBAMACARE: NOT INTERESTEDâ⬠USA Today, February 2014. 16). They argue that PPACA is primarily attractive to those who have been uninsured in the past and who suffer from chronic or acute and costly diseases. It is likely that only those individuals will sign up for the program. Most of interviewees have already health insurance. They think that PPAC Aââ¬â¢s benefits will not affect them because they are already insured by some other way. Instead, those polled might think that they will have to pay the money that allows expanding health insurance through PPACA. Also, because PPACA does not target a specific population, money might be wasted in the allocation of funds in the federal governmental budget for PPACAââ¬â¢s implementation. In his article ââ¬Å"The Future or Obamacareâ⬠, Jonathan Oberlander argues that there is no ââ¬Å"clear programmatic identity: unlike Medicare and Social Security, PPACA does not have a well-defined population of beneficiaries, and its benefits are diffuse.â⬠(Oberlander, Jonathan. ââ¬Å"The Future of Obamacareâ⬠, The NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL of MEDICINE (2012). Furthermore, Texas and 15 other states assert that PPACA, with expansion of Medicare, should be reconsidered because it will raise state expenses. (Zwelling, Leonard. ââ¬Å"Obamacare: Why Should We Care?â⬠Journal of Oncology Practice Vol .10, Issue 1 (2014). This is the most difficult, prolonged assault, which the federal government and states should overcome for continuous implementation of PPACA. In spite of these opposing opinions, PPACA should continue to go to the fore. First of all, nobody can assure that they will have enough insurance when they will need health care. In 1963, Kenneth J. Arrow wrote, ââ¬Å"UNCERTAINTY AND THE WELFARE ECONOMICS OR MEDICAL CAREâ⬠. In his article, Kenneth J. Arrow contended that health care industry could be explained with ââ¬Å"uncertainty in the incidence of diseaseâ⬠. Namely, the reason why young Americans oppose PPACA implies that young Americans are literally young. Current situation can change suddenly; the insurance is for risk and uncertainty. Reference : Kenneth J. Arrow, ââ¬Å"UNCERTAINTY AND THE WELFARE ECONOMICS OF MEDICAL CAREâ⬠, The American Economic Review, Vol LIII December 1963 Number 5 941-973. Moreover, PPACAââ¬â¢s ta rgeting to the universal population of the US is not a weak point, but a strong one. There are other countries with universal access and universal insurance such as Switzerland and Taiwan. Their types of insurance are similar to Medicare supplied by their government instead of being supply by private insurance companies. Surprisingly, while the United States spends 17% of its GDP on health care, Switzerland and Taiwan spends 11% and 7% respectively, of their GDP on it. Because PPACA is not completely enacted Act yet, addressing concerns over budget waste and discussing solutions are necessary to make PPACA move forward Reference: Zakaria, Fareed, Time magazine, 3/26/2012. Last but not least, the Federal government, not each state, will support the expansion of PPACA at a 100% level until 2017, a bit less later, then at 90% indefinitely after 2022(Zwelling, Leonard 12). For example, in Texas, for every $1 the state spends on health care for the poor, the US government matches $9 doll ars. This effectively means that, during the first 10 years of the program in Texas (current Medicare program plus expansion) the federal government would increase payments to the Texas health care system by nearly $90 billion, whereas the state of Texasââ¬â¢s share would be $15.6 billion. However, there are no specific plans after 10 years. More patchworks should be added in many holes of PPACA for its sustainable implementation. PPACA is not perfect yet, but its direction is right. Because PPACA can aid people with pre-existing conditions or uninsured people and can support Medicare, which may be endangered. The opponents argue that they have already health insurance, money might be wasted, or state expenses will be increased. PPACA, supported by the federal government, however, can guarantee peopleââ¬â¢s future health insurance. In the process of the implementation, although waste of the budget can occur, and PPACA does not have enough time to be revised, it can be getting better with continuous debating with many opposing views. Therefore, PPACA needs to go on in spite of several opposing opinions. Nursing Today Essay
Nurses these days have positive and negative images from the general public. Negative stereotypes portray nurses as being overbearing, sexual, and incompetent. For example: Naughty Nurses, Airheaded, and Doctorââ¬â¢s Handmaiden. These stereotypes are portrayed in the media constantly even though nursing is a challenging respectable profession. Some of the positive images that are portrayed by the public are strong, patient advocates, dedicated, trustworthy, profession highly in demand, and highly intelligent. There are numerous actions that can be taken to actively fight the negative stereotypes. It generally starts by promoting positive images of the nursing students. This could start at the college setting or even the clinical setting where a lot of interactions will be done with the general public and strangers. I also think that if you actively educate others on the true meaning of nursing then that would also help fight negative stereotypes. This could generally be done in health career fairs, schools, colleges, and health centers where nurses are actively involved. Also establishing public image committee in the local neighborhood or city would also help. There are also popular celebrities that actively help with stereotypes. For example: Christina Aguilera as both a nurse and patient, exploited negative stereotypes of nurses. If popular celebrities can take active role in helping stop negative stereotypes for nurses then anyone can. It would definitely take a lot of hard work to stop it but eventually the word would come across. Moreover, television nurses also promote positive nursing itââ¬â¢s understood that medical dramas are meant to entertain, not serve as documentaries. Nevertheless, media-driven messages are also very powerful, influencing the culture and collective mindset. There are numerous current images of nurses in the media and challenges nurses to engage in professional and public service designed to promote a positive media and public image of nursing. In conclusion, if we actively did take a part in stopping negative stereotyping for nurses or any other profession it would benefit and bring more respect to the nursing world. It doesnââ¬â¢t take much to down grade a rofession but it takes a lot of hard work and time to stop the negative stereotyping. As I listed examples above to help reduce negative stereotyping all it takes is active participants to bring a change. In this time and age we often get influenced by individuals very fast and so why couldnââ¬â¢t we actively bring positive influence to society and help the nursing profession in general to lower negative stereotyping. Because it will greatly help our profession of nursing become more respectable in society.

A Critique Metric Measurements Tools - 1495 Words
Critique Metric Measurements Tools The validity of metrics in an organization not only depends on the metrics being gathered, but also in light of who is reviewing the analysis. Senior management focuses on the numbers for total compensation, which directly impacts the bottom line. Conversely, the employee may review total compensation in light of fairness, equity, and in comparative with industry offerings. Another scope from which to review the analysis of metrics is from the human resources professionalsââ¬â¢ point of view, which is the engagement of staff and job satisfaction. Total Cost of Workforce For most organizations, the primary goal is to maximize profits for all stakeholders; including employees, and shareholders. With theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It must be competitive with similar companies, and offer intrinsic motivations that lead to employee loyalty. Human Resources Professional Perspective Turning toward the human resources management (HRM) perspective, companies now include HRM as a strategic partner in accomplishing the goals of the organization. The human resources professional does not operate in isolation, but is an integral part of any organizationââ¬â¢s strategic planning team. The human resources director ââ¬Å"is first a business partner of the organization and then an human resources (HR) professionalâ⬠(Purushotham, 2009, p. 177). The scope of the HR professional is to interpret the strategic goals of the organization, and create total compensation packages that will attract and recruit high-value targets for candidacy while being mutually beneficial for both the organization and the prospective employee. By treating the HR professional as a business partner, the organization allows a better flow of communication with regard to job specificity, job requirements, and arms the HR professional with enough detail to make comparative analysis of total compensation as compared to competitors and the general marketplace. This includes not only mandatory benefits as outlined by federal and state regulations, but other voluntary benefits to
